The formal opening of Walworth Society’s History Festival on Sunday 16th September rounded off a fantastic weekend of community activity in the north of Southwark. The History Festival, which runs to 23rd September, comprises an exhibition at 155 Walworth Road, animated history tours by actors (pictured), films and talks from guest speakers.

On Saturday 15th September, the annual Bermondsey Street Festival attracted thousands of local residents to a variety of music and dance entertainment, community activities and independent traders; while a couple of miles away, West Walworth’s beautiful Pasley Park hosted an annual community fete and dog show.

The events help to bring local residents together, build and strengthen networks with and between communities, and celebrate Southwark’s rich culture and history. We are proud to support them. The events are made possible by the creativity and commitment of Southwark’s volunteers to whom we owe a huge vote of thanks.
