Residents from Hopton almshouses gathered in their own garden last Friday to discuss all the issues affecting them. The bulk of the agenda was taken up talking about the Sampson and Ludgate development which is due start early next year. Residents discussed the most recent version of the plans for this site and considered the impact that the demolition phase would have on them and their neighbours.

The meeting continued with a review of the plans for the John Fry Room, which is due to be refurbished as a luxury residents lounge for events and activities. Everyone was invited to share their views on the colour schemes, furniture and finishes for this space which will be renovated throughout the autumn.

The meeting ended at 1pm with the customary fish and chip lunch laid on by United St Saviour’s.
