There was dancing in the lounge last Thursday at St Saviour’s Court in Purley when residents were entertained by a local ragtime and jazz band playing all their favourite songs.

Along with dancing and a sing-a-long, almshouse residents enjoyed a delicious spread of sandwiches and cream teas with lots of mini cupcakes thrown in for good measure.

Temporary scheme manager, Claire Abbott, said “It was wonderful to see the residents enjoying themselves so much, particularly the older people who are not able to get out and about as much as they used to. Music is a wonderful way to evoke old memories and cheer the spirit.”
