Positive Ageing in the Bankside area was celebrated in the glorious sunshine last Friday when residents from Hopton’s almshouses and Lucy Brown House enjoyed a tea party together in the almshouse gardens.
With support from Bankside Residents Forum , Better Bankside, South London Cares and Bankside Stories the event involved fun, quizzes and plenty of cream teas for everyone involved. With the garden at Hopton’s almshouses in full bloom, the only thing participants had to worry about was keeping cool in the hot afternoon sunshine.
One local resident said, ‘ It’s easy to feel invisible as an older person living in a bustling area like this so it was wonderful to meet up with other members of the Bankside Community and enjoy a lovely afternoon together in this beautiful garden.’
