We are excited to announce that Funding Differently is now open for applications!

Funding Differently is a unique collaboration between Community Southwark, Partnership Southwark, United St Saviour’s Charity, Peter Minet Trust, and Southwark’s Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS).

The programme was created to break down the funding barriers faced by smaller organisations, as highlighted in Community Southwark’s State of the Sector research. Local voluntary and community groups helped design the process and will also make the final decisions on how funds are awarded.

Over the past two years, Funding Differently has supported 50 local organisations with grants.

This year, United St Saviour’s Charity has committed £50,000, redirecting Round 2 of its Small Grants Programme 2025/26 and strengthening a model that aligns with our commitment to equitable and community-led funding. We’re excited about this step because it means our grant making can be more inclusive, equitable, and empowering.

In total, £275,000 is available through contributions from Partnership Southwark, Peter Minet Trust, and United St Saviour’s Charity.

The grants available are:

  • £5,000 grants, which will go to 27 VCS groups (for organisations with an annual income of less than £50,000)
  • £10,000 grants, which will go to 14 VCS groups (for organisations with an annual income of between £40,000 and £100,000)
  • This grant opportunity is open from 1st September until 13th October. Decisions will be shared with groups by Thursday 11th December 2025 and we aim to distribute funds within 4 weeks.
