United St Saviour’s Charity opens its Community Investment Programme 2016/17, which replaces the Large Grants Programme.
We expect to have two community investment rounds per year. Currently, organisations can apply for between £5,001 and £100,000; the total sum available is likely to be about £500,000 per annum (or £250,000 per investment round). We are normally heavily oversubscribed. In 2015/16 the average size large grant awarded was £37,633.
The Community Investment Programme will support creative, exciting activities and projects driven by:
- demonstrable and evidenced need in north Southwark and Bermondsey
- reciprocity – projects which give something back which is sustainable for communities
- place-shaping – building and sustaining communities in neighbourhoods that are experiencing re-development and demographic changes
- ground breaking ideas – fresh ways of thinking and dynamic leadership that can deliver them
- Leveraging external funds through partnerships and corporate social responsibility
- Value for money and a substantial return on investment.

There are expected to be TWO rounds of community investments in 2016/17, with a two stage application process in each round – Stage 1: Completion of an Expression of Interest form; Stage 2: Organisations with an Expression of Interest that is shortlisted are invited to submit a second stage grant application. Following assessment, organisations may be invited to interview with the Charity’s Grants Committee.
Application deadlines
The closing deadlines for submission of completed Expressions of Interest are:
- Round One: 5pm on 22nd October 2015 (for project activities starting from April 2016). This round has closed to applications.
- Round Two: 5pm on 25th February 2016 (for project activities starting from June 2016)
Please note that organisations may submit only one application per financial year, whether successful or not.
