We’re looking for our next Chair and two new Trustees.

Join the Board of a 500-year-old Southwark charity as we deliver an ambitious new ten-year strategy.

United St Saviour’s Charity is looking for people to join our Board — as our next Chair, and as two new Trustees — as we build on almost 500 years of supporting the people and communities of Southwark.

Over the last decade we’ve transformed from a traditional grant-maker into a place-based community investor working across the whole of Southwark. We’ve nearly doubled our housing provision and, with the opening of Appleby Blue, delivered a genuinely radical new model of social housing for older people — one that went on to win the RIBA Stirling Prize, the UK’s most prestigious architecture award, and is now shaping national policy conversations about housing and ageing.

We’re now delivering an ambitious ten-year strategy: more homes for older people, a deeper and more relational approach to community investment, and a bigger voice in shaping how this country houses and supports its ageing population. Both roles close on 14 October 2026.

As Chair, you’ll lead our Board, working closely with Chief Executive Martyn Craddock to steward our strategy, governance and finances. We’re looking for board leadership experience — ideally having chaired a board or significant committee before.

As a Trustee, you’ll share collective responsibility for our governance and strategy alongside the Chair and fellow Trustees. No previous Trustee experience is needed — just a genuine understanding of Southwark and a willingness to learn.
