Refugee Week is a week-long event, but the movement towards a kinder, more compassionate and equitable world continues all year round.

At United St Saviour’s, we carry the spirit and energy of Refugee Week with us, continuing to stand in solidarity with people seeking sanctuary.

We are proud to be an ally in making Southwark a Borough of Sanctuary. We stand with our charity partners providing vital support — from language classes (English for Action London, Ripe Learning UK) and immigration advice, to homelessness prevention (Southwark Day Centre For Asylum Seekers), and care and advocacy for asylum seekers and refugees (Southwark Refugee Communities Forum).

Thank you for all that you do.

Celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary feels more important than ever.

Communities bring people together, bridging divides, offering support, fostering resilience, and creating spaces for healing.

This year we are highlighting Victor and Nadia Hetalo (pictured) from the Ukraine who joined us after fleeing their country due to the war in 2023. Victor and Nadia, who live in St Saviour’s Court in Purley, created this beautiful art installation as a thank you to the people who have helped them since moving to the UK.

We are pleased and proud to have been able to welcome them to our community.
