London’s first ever half marathon ‘The Big Half’ was successfully completed by a team of staff from United St Saviour’s who participated in the 4 person relay event.

Chief Executive, Martyn Craddock, led the pack by completing leg one of the relay when he started the race along with 15,000 other runners at Tower Bridge last Sunday. The next two legs were completed by Head of Housing, Jude Leighton and Community Engagement Grants Manager, Matthew Allgood leaving Head of Community Investment, Sarah Thurman to cross the finish line for the team at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. The route spanning four boroughs included Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and Surrey Docks as well as other key South London Landmarks.

The all staff relay team included a combination of experienced runners and enthusiastic novices but the mutual support of one another kept them going for the whole race.

Chief Executive, Martyn Craddock said ‘I am so proud of the dedication and commitment of the team. We are united in our work and that excellent approach to teamworking was brilliantly demonstrated throughout the race. I hope this will be first of many’.
